Dutch tech companies must make better use of Brussels, according to the King's Commissioner. Wim van de Donk will personally cater for that businesses like CM get more support from the EU.

CMs headquarters in Breda opened its doors on Thursday as local business association City of Imagineers (COFI) met to discuss how companies in the region can cooperate to grow stronger. “A lot of old fashioned companies need help and inspiration from smaller and younger companies like CM, which already focuses on tomorrow’s challenges,” says Loren Roosendaal from COFI which gathers 120 local companies.

Going global and local

In the same time as CM expands rapidly internationally, it is getting ever more important to support the local community, says CEO Jeroen van Glabbeek. “In the past we would look for marketing expertise or photographers in Amsterdam or London. But we have discovered that a lot of talent is available in Breda. A local business network helps us to find those people.”

Have never used Brussels

Another resource that could be made better use of is Brussels, according to Jeroen van Glabbeek. The high & fin tech industries are top priorities for EU Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker. “We have never used any of the support we could get from the EU but there is a lot of money and subsidies for companies like us. That’s why it is so good that the King’s Commissioner is here today, he has a great network.”

Van de Donk will do it

Commissioner Wim van de Donk claims that business development in Breda, Brabant and Brussels must be entwined. “We have to take the Dutch tech industry to Brussels, there is a lot of money to be found there. I will personally make sure that this is being brought up by the European Commission."
